About Me


I am a researcher and educator specializing in wireless communications, artificial intelligence (AI), and next-generation networks, currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. Prior to joining KFUPM, I served as a Visiting Faculty member at Istanbul Medipol University, Türkiye. With over 15 years of experience in academia and industry, my work focuses on advancing 6G technologies, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), digital twins, and AI-driven signal processing. My research has garnered over 500 citations, reflecting its impact in telecommunications and engineering.

Professional Experience

 Currently, as a Postdoctoral Fellow at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia, I conduct research on Digital Twins, Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), 6G wireless networks, and AI-driven communication systems, with a focus on intelligent and sensing-aware architectures for next-generation networks.

Previously, as a Visiting Faculty member at Istanbul Medipol University, Türkiye (2024–2026), I taught and conducted research on cutting-edge wireless systems, including semantic-aware resource allocation, TinyML for IoT, artificial intelligence, and next-generation wireless communications.

From 2019 to 2024, I served as General Manager Research at an R&D organization in Pakistan, where I led national-level research and development projects and contributed to the development and management of advanced technology initiatives.

I also served as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Space Technology (IST), Pakistan (2019–2020), where I introduced courses in Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning, mentored students, and supervised research and theses in areas including 5G networks, blockchain-enabled IoT, and AI-driven signal processing.

Across these roles, my research has evolved from AI-enabled signal processing, IoT, and wireless communications toward Digital Twins, ISAC, and intelligent 6G networks, bringing together sensing, communication, and AI for future wireless systems.

Educational Background

I hold a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University, China (2018), where I developed deep learning models for automatic modulation classification. I earned a Master’s in Communication Engineering from the Australian National University, Australia (2011), and a Bachelor’s in Telecommunication Engineering from FAST-NU Institute of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Pakistan (2008). My academic journey has been recognized with awards, including the China Outstanding International Award (2018) and the NICTA Society Australian Award (2010).

Research and Impact

 

My research explores AI-enhanced wireless networks, Digital Twins, Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), and next-generation 6G systems, with publications in leading venues including IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking, and IEEE Signal Processing Letters, as well as contributions to international conferences such as IEEE PIMRC 2026. My broader research portfolio includes developing AI classifiers for COVID-19 detection using chest X-rays and designing high-frequency antennas for 6G applications. I have also supervised postgraduate and doctoral research, fostering innovation in areas such as blockchain-enabled IoT, AI-driven signal processing, and acoustic signal processing.

I am passionate about bridging academia and industry, building global research collaborations, and mentoring the next generation of engineers and researchers.
